Our History and Founder

Mercy Seat Ministries traces its origins back to 1991, founded by the late, great Elder Purvis L. Ott Sr., a visionary whose legacy of faith and dedication laid the groundwork for what we stand for today. After Elder Ott's passing in 1994, his vision remained a steadfast presence in the heart of Pastor Muriel Mealey. Despite attempts to run from it, she couldn't ignore the calling that persisted through the years.In a journey marked by resilience and profound personal loss, Pastor Mealey experienced the deaths of both her mother and sister. It was during these trials that she finally surrendered to the divine calling, saying, "OK God, whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it." This act of faith and obedience led to the rebirth of Mercy Seat Ministries in August 2021.Pastor Mealey was ordained in December 2021 by none other than Overseer Myrthis Ott, the sister of Elder Purvis Ott Sr., further solidifying her commitment to carrying on the legacy of service and faith that Elder Ott envisioned.
